During the first fortnight of June, Brazilian coffee prices decreased. Liquidity in the domestic market was low, limited by drop of international quotations of arábica, valuation of Real against the dollar and national holiday on June 11. Agents surveyed by Cepea expect that trades move at a better pace in the upcoming fortnight.
In the balance of the first fortnight of June, the
Cepea/ESALQ Index for arábica coffee type 6, delivered in São Paulo (capital), tumbled 7.5 percent, at 249.4 reais or 127.7 dollars per bag of 60 kilos on June 15. For robusta coffee, the
Cepea/ESALQ Index type 6, in the origin Espírito Santo state, closed at 190.04 reais or 97.31 dollars per bag of 60 kilos on June 15, decreasing 3.78 percent in the period.
Regarding weather, low temperatures were observed in some regions of Paraná state and in Southern Minas Gerais state. Nevertheless, coffee plantations were not affected and harvesting is moving on in all producing regions.
